People go to Baba Amarnath in order to seek divine help.It is believed that whoever visit baba Amarnath ,all of his wishes comes true.The soul of the person becomes pure like Ganga water.Every person should go there at least once.There are two ways to reach there-the first is by helicopter and the second by walking the whole distance.But it is believed that reaching there by walking gives you the full benefit as lord Shiva then gives you his blessings fully.
Every year J&K shrine board organizes the holy Amarnath yatra in j&k. Lakhs of devotees come to amarnath & see the natural ice lingam of lord shiva. There are two pigeons there what is believed that they have heard 'THE AMAR KATHA' from lord Shiva & they are AMAR(means they will never die) from then.
It's a very holy yatra for Hindus & every devotee want to perform this yatra once in a life.But it's not as easy to go to amarnath yatra as it sounds. The devotee who can put their life on hands can perform the yatra. reasons are;-
1- Amarnath yatra is always a soft target for the terrorist there in kashmir.
